Litigation Support Certificate Program

Education and Certification Designed To Meet Market’s Emerging Needs

Until now, there has been little or no formal training in the highly skilled, highly paid field of litigation support. This certificate program will help those who complete the training and pass to stand out from the crowd.

Organization of Legal Professionals (OLP) has announced that it has added a new Litigation Support Management Certificate Program to its Masters Series. The all new, live online, instructor-led, interactive program will begin May 20 and run until August 12.

The seven-course, three-month series focuses on a new kind of professional – one who fully understands today’s litigation support and management needs in a law firm or corporate legal department.

“There are too few knowledgeable and fully trained professionals who know litigation support from top to bottom,” said OLP President and Co-Founding Member Chere Estrin. “Until now, there has been little or no formal training in this highly skilled, highly paid field. This certificate program will help those who complete the training and pass to stand out from the crowd.”

According to recent salary surveys, Litigation Support Project Managers on the West Coast earn approximately $125,000 annually, plus overtime and bonus. The demand for Litigation Support Project Managers is even higher on the East Coast, with strong candidates being offered up to $200,000 for management positions.

“Salaries are on the rise because of a shrinking talent pool,” said Estrin. “As a result, law firms are upping salaries to attract the best talent. Until this point, you could take a webinar here or a seminar there or learn on the job. We wanted to give our members the option to prove themselves with an intensive, graduate-level program focusing on management skills, legal project management, relevant technology, workflow, and the fundamentals of litigation support.”

The new program will be led by well-known author and speaker David Kearney, a Pittsburgh-based technology, eDiscovery and litigation support professional with more than 15 years of experience managing technical staff throughout the country. Kearney has earned multiple industry certifications, including the Project Management Professional and Certified Electronic Discovery Specialist.

Designed, developed and delivered by a group of leading litigation support experts, consultants, law professors, senior paralegals, paralegal managers and other top industry professionals, OLP’s new Litigation Support Management Certificate Program is aimed at instructing students specifically in the areas most likely to be assigned them.

It is also educational preparation for the Litigation Support Certification Exam to become a Certified Litigation Support Specialist (CLSS) offered by OLP. Estrin notes that taking the program does not give students automatic certification. Certification is dependent on taking and passing the CLSS exam.

“Litigation Support Management professionals must have a solid knowledge base of both legal and technology practices combined with strong leadership and management skills,” said Estrin. “We believe the Litigation Support Management Certificate Program will fill in knowledge gaps and prepare students to put all of the pieces together to become solid Litigation Support Management professionals.”
